&...I look back to you
Marion Kimes

&...I look back to you
looking for cover
my words fall into place.
they ride air & memory
night leans into morning
dark but for stars
who fling themselves across space
or know their paths and stick to them
as cats know stalking.
some bird will die tonight.
signs in the grass come morning
if we read death.
one bird murmurs in somber light.
the cats come & go. a planet
pries me up, calls me to the door
from
Kimes's new collection of poems,
Crows' Eyes of multiplication and light.
