Jewel is to Fruit
by Dana Elkun
Upon meeting the pomegranate
the rubies form a circle
then fall into the shape
of a mouth. They say:
How the beads in you
call to the glint in me.
The man in my bed
never studied the language
of jewels so I translate:
My ruby calls to your mouth.
