I believe that human beings are among the most mysterious of creatures to
walk the face of this earth. From conception to death, each individual is
inextricably tied to a container that must, in essence, see the person through
a journey wrought with danger, delight and destiny. Our relationship towards
our flesh and the flesh of others seems to have no parallel in nature.
As a writer among writers who engage in the study of the self and the
other, I am trying, in some small way, to explore this book, these books
of flesh. At the same time, I pay homage to that "house of hearts"
the book. For where else can hearts beat again except upon those still beds,
where else can the dead breath again but in this house whose walls are thick
with the memorabilia of our unforgotten days. ©
