Jon Strongbow grew up in the Pacific Northwest and attended Cornish College of the Arts in the early 1970’s. In the early 1980s he wrote and produced a rock and roll song cycle called Alien City, that has become a Northwest cult classic. In the mid-1980’s he became one of the first members of the Red Cedar Circle, a Native American Drumming and storytelling circle led by Johnny Moses, a Native American Medicine Elder. Later he performed his stories at Seattle’s Red Sky Poetry Theater, and appeared on many stages in and outside of the city. He later developed and ran a floating cabaret called The Secret City Cabaret, which provided many local performers and writers with a stage venue. He formed a jazz-rock fusion band called Mystery School and performed throughout the city. He began the Secret City graphic novel series in 1992, and his three graphic novels grew from that series: The Hidden WorldA Walkabout Seattle, and The Ocean of Time. He joined the Pike Place Market as a vendor/storyteller in 1999. His latest art book, Visionary Surrealism At The Pike Place Market(2019), features more than two dozen artists, including many Native American artists, who have sold and exhibited their artworks at the market.
